King Charles wished his grandson Prince Archie a happy birthday "wherever he is" at a private family gathering at Buckingham Palace following his and Queen Camilla's coronations, according to the Daily Mail.
Archie turns 4 on Saturday, the same day as his coronation. When his father, Charles' son Prince Harry, attended the coronation in London, he immediately headed to Heathrow to head home for Archie's birthday, which, as has long been reported, he intends to do. At the event, where he sat in the third row, his relatives, including Princess Eugenie of York, did not appear to have any direct connection to Charles or his younger brother, Prince William.
Communication between the brothers is understood to have been virtually non-existent since the publication of Harry's blockbuster memoir, Standby, which revealed Harry's general anger at members of the royal family and the deteriorating relationship between the brothers in particular, which allegedly included William. One confrontation when pushing Harry was at the dog bowl.
Guests at the palace reception on Saturday reportedly included Camilla's next of kin as well as Kate Middleton's family.
